As a photographer with the American Press Association, Jackson was invited to accompany Thomas Edison during an inspection of U.S. submarines at Brooklyn Navy Yard in December, 1915


Weeks after the inspection the submarine E-2 exploded. Cause was determined to be un-vented hydrogen from battery charging

As a reserve officer Jackson accompanied U.S. troops to Mexico in the 1916 Punitive Expedition against Pancho Villa. These photos were taken by Jackson and will appear in Joseph Caro's book.
